Wreck of the Florida, Lake Huron Technical Dive
This was a fantastic day. The dive was a technical one, with Trimix as the gas of choice. This was a great shipwreck to explore. At just over 200ft and a water temperature of 38DegF, it was a challenging dive but well worth it in the end. The visibility was awesome. Lots to see and a spectacular time was had by all. In this video you will find Barb Johnston, Greg Murphy, Jimmy Shull and Videographer, Rich Synowiec. We are planning to dive this area again in September so check out our website for dates and details if you want to join us. The site is http:///www.diversinc.com/ Would love to have you join us.

awesome video…whats the depth of the Florida??
It is 175ft to the deck and just over 200 to the mud
Excellent video. The Florida is one of the wrecks that I hope to do this summer. Do you have any video of the Windiate also?
Safe diving
scooterti
We did the windiate on the same day… the disc was scratched so it is going to take a lot of time to get it to production… easier to dive it again.
Great video! Well made, music’s great, very interesting to watch.
Enjoy your dives!
Excellent video! That wreck is a little too deep and cold for me, so thanks for taking me there.
Nice to see a wreck that hasn’t been stripped of every artifact. Great video.
very nice vid!!!
the visibility truly is awesome. (i am used to diving in a visibility of <1meter to 2 meters (2 to 6 feet) with some dives more. but this is yust awesome! love 2 go there some day
does anyone know any specs on this ship? what sank it, what it’s purpose was, how many died with it?
oh man I need to get tech certified. That would be awesome.
ahh yes cold water diving, you have to love it. I live in Wisconsin so I know what you are talking about. Some of the best divers out there originate from cold water in my opinion, we deal with the shitty conditions and keep diving.
exactly the reason i keep diving in shitty conditions. great for practice. and there are none better dive sites around here. (holland) well sometimes 8meters visibility, and in some places if you get lucky about 15meters. but most of the time it’s jost cold dark water. but still i like it
No matter what transpires with us on the surface, that old wreck will still be there much as it is today for a long, long time.
I love watching videos of old ship wrecks lots to be learned,,all over the world in every body of water are ship wrecks waiting to be discovered,,,some laws will not permitt diving on some wreck sights
Very nice video – great vis and nice to see the divers from a long way out. What camera / setup?
Ive dove south haven with 5 ft vis
The wooden steamer (271′x40′x15′) built at Buffalo in 1889. Sank in 210 feet after she was struck by the steamer George W. Roby on May 20th 1897
If you go back in a year will the capstan cover still be there??I wonder sincerely how the technical dive wrecks fair in michigan waters with the dive thieves,I beleive the camera toting divers are too busy filming to strip the ships.
