You can get off a plane and the go scuba diving with no risk.
The rule is that twenty-four hours should be allowed from your last dive before boarding a flight.
Many of the modern Diving Computers now have an aircraft as a No Fly warning symbol.
For more details on the rules you should attend formal dive training with an approved agency such as PADI
Because they are pessimists.
Probably because of the pressures. But I’ve never heard this one…
I’ve never heard the bit about an airplane, but I have heard people saying that you can’t/shouldn’t go sky-diving and scuba diving on the same day.
The reason for that is because you can get decompression sickness from the extreme change in pressure associated with with the altitudes. It only compounds if you continue to get farther up.
As you dive down, pressure builds on your body compressing gas from the surrounding environment into your body. As you rise to the surface, this air expands in your joints, lungs and blood passages.
This affliction is only compounded upon if you continue to climb, especially in a depressurized aircraft like those used in skydiving.
So it would be unsafe to do both in the same day since the rise to the altitude can make you very sick. You might be able to assume that the dangers of sky-diving and flying in an airplane are the same, but I’m not an expert. I would look more into it just to be sure.
Check out the link below, it has a bit of information on Decompression Sickness, if you are interested.
