What Ship Was It That Brought the "Trieste" a Deep Diving Bathyscaphe to the States From Italy?

it was in the 50′s I think it was a gift to a research team and proved usefull when one of our subs went down in the trenches in rescue atempts.

    1958 was the year the US navy purchased the Trieste for 250,000 bucks and strapped it across the number 3 hold of the USS ANTARES AK258. I was there charly as they say, we took it to a port in the states, perhaps Norfolk Va. Later on we transported the HMS Spratt a miniture sub to the states the same way.
