Swimming in Contact Lenses?

is it okay?
im hardly going deep sea diving, i just might be going on holiday and i want to wear them when im splashing in the pool and sea.

i have monthly lenses and ive saved around 5 pairs of lenses from the last 5months.

should i use these older lenses then throw them away afterwards so my risk of eye infection is less?

I’ve never tried it, partly because I’m afraid the contact will wash away.

But I would say be very careful not to get anything caught between your contact lenses and your eyes. Otherwise you’ll be in pain. For that reason alone I’d invest in prescription goggles maybe.

Basically you should be fine as long as you don’t open your eyes under water. Just be careful not to get water in your eyes and the contacts will be fine and there is no risk of infection, the worst that could happen is the water will ruin your contacts, but if you have several pairs it doesn’t matter. Have fun:-)

I wear mine all the time. My colored ones actually stayed in if I opened my eyes underwater, but the ones I wear now do not. They get messed up quite easily if my eyes are open when splashed, so I would suggest bringing a pair of goggles. Otherwise, you should be fine!

You had better wear goggles. You can wear normal swimming goggles and contact lenses, or only wear goggles with power.

    Check http://lenscompare.com/swimming-goggles-c-51-1.html

If you only wear contact lenses, you will have lots of chances to infect your eyes.

    Take care.
