Suspensions for Diving?

This is mostly brought up by Moore’s dive tonight. I hate dives, they are so classless, and look so bad on players. But, they are also very hard to call on-ice for refs. I mean, if you are a ref and you see a stick that looked like it came up high on someone, and then theyre clutching their face, you would make a high sticking call.
And when players get good at diving, it is very difficult for refs to tell. But, in the magic of the 21st century, we have video review. I would love to see 2 or 3 game suspensions get used for consistent divers. They ruin our great sport of hockey.
What do you think about it, and do you think this could possibly be implemented within the next 5 years?

Implemented in the next 5 years? Ummm, it HAS been implemented for the last 5 years.

    First dive- Warning letter
    Second dive- 1,000$ fine
    Third dive- One game suspension
    Fourth dive- Two game suspension
    Fifth dive- Four game suspension
Sixth dive- Eight game suspension……..subsequent dives just double the suspension!

Also, as far as video review, I will quote rule 64.3-

Regardless if a minor penalty for diving / embellishment is called, Hockey Operations will review game videos and assess fines to players or goalkeepers who dive or embellish a fall or a reaction, or who feign injury. The call on the ice by the Referee is totally independent of supplementary discipline.

I will also add that ALL players embellish, some are just better at it than others. While I personally find it disgraceful…..they should also do ANYTHING they can to gain advantage to win a game, if that includes working the refs for a call their way then so be it. It aint tiddlywinks…..as one former player said last week, he’d fight his Grandmother if it meant winning a Stanley Cup…..so I am sure he would embellish a call.

I have yet to hear of a player suspended under these rules.

If they did that this year Montreal wouldn’t have any players left.

Do you want a suspension called for everything in Hockey? So far you have brought up 3 or 4 different Incidents about players being suspended, which btw none were even considered bad hits or anything. I thought there already was video review anyways for Diving…Suspending players left and right because fans of a team call for their heads is what could ruin Hockey. Lets get real here…..Hockey is Hockey, there will be diving, there will be hits, there will be fights, there will be goals.
