my grandfather always tells me about when he drove these on saipan, he said after the war they would bust holes in the AMTRACKs and tow them out past the first reef and let them fully submerge there

    Dear Sir or Madam,

I am currently writing a book on the ex-German WWII cruiser

Prinz Eugen and I am doing some research on the atomic tests

at the Bikini (Operations Crossroads, Operation Castle 1954, etc.)

    and Eniwetok atolls.

Do you know anything about contaminated shipwrecks at Saipan
that originally participated in the atomic tests at Bikini in 1946 or
during the 1950s? Maybe they were test or support vessels that
were moved to Saipan later? I have heard that people on Saipan
got exposed to radiation by these contaminated ships
(small landing boats if I am not mistaken).

I would be grateful if you could let me know if you have any infos

on this or if you know anyone who could help me.

    Thank you very much.

    Greetings from Germany,

    Ingo Bauernfeind
