New Wreck Dive Key West

Diving in Santa Cruz
What to do after finding it was more than a year since the last dive trip, and you want to get wet again? Once you've kicked course? Well, the obvious answer is to abandon what you do and snorkel.
So I took my own advice and just returned from St. Croix, Virgin Islands U.S., where my son and I fell very much brain for a week. We also ate good food, much of the island, and chilled on the balcony overlooking the ocean.
So, Santa Cruz, why? Well, why not? On the one hand, I had not been there, preferring to dive into new locations. But I have a friend who worked there as a divemaster, and I thought that to have a view insider. After an exchange of emails with him some, and exploration on the web, I found everything I needed to get everyone Reserved.
Given the last minute is planned, the trip went smoothly. There was some parameters to consider, namely that I wanted to do less and get a lot of diving – at least two tanks per day. Oh, and I wanted to eat fresh shrimp.
The best dive sites in Santa Cruz, is the famous "wall" along the north coast about 7 miles or more. With this in mind, took refuge in a small hotel with 9 rooms in Cane Bay, which is just west of the midpoint of the north coast. As if by chance one of the best restaurants on the island is also on the same property.
The hotel is built on the right bank, which is rocky at the moment, and all rooms have sea views. The views are exceptional, with St. Thomas and San Juan on the horizon and always waves crashing on the rocks. In less than a kilometer are some places most excellent eating, and dive shop, we use what is right opposite the beach at Cane Bay.
I recommend getting a rental car to move around the island. He played less than rely on taxi and because there is much to see, saving money in the long term. The best way to manage rent in advance what to expect upon arrival.
It worked well for us because they had a representative waiting for the delivery room when we were holding a banner with our name on it. Just sign the papers and left. Upon leaving, I'm parked at the airport, locked the keys inside and left.
As for the case in diving – definitely North Shore Wall. Several sites are an easy swim to the beach – maybe about 200 feet, then down the wall that starts at 50 and drops 3200. Keep an eye toward the north, where could see the occasional black tip sharks, manta rays, eagle or swim.
Also, be sure to dive the Salt River where the wall was a giant coral heads, caves, and a huge bathroom-throughs. The reef is healthy, vibrant and full of all kinds of marine life. I saw several posts in black coral, and an unusual number of trunkfish it.
While the north wall is large, there are a couple of places the note in the west which are also "do" dives. We are the remains of shipwrecks. In fact, two sites – the more pull and the creation of approximately 100 to ferry down. Many of growth, but clearly distinct structures – especially the wheelhouse on board the tug, and lets you take great photographs.
Also the western end is the Frederiksted Pier, which takes place a few hundreds of meters, and is one of the richest fishing areas that I have seen. The debris at the bottom and batteries contain all sorts of creatures, including coral shrimp and band of sea spiders the dozen.
Is likely to get "ink" after reaching an octopus trying to blend into the background as they swim, or watch them turn colors while hiding in some of the strangest places. The funny thing is this child locked in what appeared to be the top of a broken wine bottle.
There is much more to see and do in St. Croix, including an interesting history. Clearly one of dozens of ancient windmills, the sugar plantations once covered the island, and with the support of an economy very different from today.
