My Hairdresser Tells Me That Some Shampoos Can Actually Make You Loose Your Hair??
I never heard of this before, but she has told me that certain shampoos like Dove will actually make your hair fall out.
She says she doesn’t even do perms on her customers if they have been using that brand.
Is this true?
What are some of the shampoos to avoid?
I have long straight blonde hair. Any suggestions?
I use Pantene Ice,
Dove,
Sauve.

Ordinary shampoo is somewhat stressful to skin and hair. If you’re concerned about that, look for a shampoo that doesn’t have sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate listed as an ingredient. There are other ingredients that are bad too but as a rule of thumb a shampoo that doesn’t have the lauryl/laureth sulfates won’t have much of the other problem ingredients either.
No shampoo will make you lose your hair. Only improper care, stress and health or genetics contribute to hair loss. Some ingredients might not be good for it, as for not perming hair when Dove is used it sounds like she’s trying to sell you a higher priced shampoo or she needs to invest in a different brand of perm solution!!
I have heard alot of people say not to use Pantene because it has alcohol in it and it is really bad for drying out your hair!! I am not sure about the other ones that you are using!!
Herbal Essences has been sued many many times because of people losing their hair. They have a lot of fruit extracts and acids to make it smell good but those can make your hair fall out.
Anything with sodium laurel sulfate weakens the hair, its a harsh detergent that dries out the hair and roughs up th tile like cuticles… Suave shampoo is too cheap to be really good, I haven’t used it in years, I don’t even use Pantene, never have used Dove either… I have done research on shampoos and if I see certain ingredients listed I won’t use it, and if the detergent is listed right after water, I definitely won’t use it.
I use Paves, the guy that made this shampoo is Jessica Simpson’s stylist. Its in the same price range as Pantene.
All grocery store brands have a large amount of fillers and preservatives to ensure to keep the cost down and extra long shelve life. Think of it like a Twinkie. A Twinkie will fill you up for less than a dollar, but it will rot your teeth and can last on a shelf for over 7 years and not go bad. An pineapple on the other hand is more expensive, better for you and can only last for a while before going bad. While I professionally would not go as far to say that hair will fall out, I will say that it coats the hair making it difficult to color or perm through. Your hair is your crowning glory. Try a lesser expensive professional line such as Matrix or Rusk or Aveda. Best of luck.
