Do You Have to Be Able to Swim to Go Snorkelling or Deep Sea Diving?

Cos we are planning holiday to malta and apparently snorkelling is great there but we cant swim but dont ya wear flippers n all?

    Yes you wear flippers, but you still have to know how to swim to propel yourself through the water. You could pull off snorkeling with a swim vest, but not deep sea diving.

    It is not necessary for snorkeling. In most places you are required to wear a life vest anyways, so swimming is not a necesity. For deep sea diving, I am not 100% sure, but I think swimming would be needed.

    you can go but you will have to learn to swim if you want to come back alive? have fun
