Well women can have several men to have children, children have yet to grow up and spawn children, and men can make several people pregnant and create more people. That’s why they saved them. They also thought that girls and children needed more protection because men can take care of themselves

No that is sexist. If that continued to happen and the whole word was on a ship (which is really unlikely) then we would have a world of just women and we would not be able to continue our species. But children should go first.

I believe children should be saved first if there was a shipwreck, but men and women are equal. In my opinion, it would be whoever gets to the spare boat or life vest first, gets it. Too many people are still stuck on the stupid idea that men and women should be treated differently.

Yes because they are not as strong as adult men. Elderly, sick and weak too.

I don’t think so but men are more rational. That means that

    1. Men are more likely to realize that someone has to be last.
    2. Men are less likely to become hysterical therefore it is easier to maintain order.
    3. Men are the stronger sex therefore they have a better chance of survival (although maybe not much better) if they have to save themselves.
    4. Men are more likely to sacrifice themselves because they are more altruistic in nature.

In crises where tough decisions have to be made, it is usually a safer bet to put your trust in men rather than women.

Children yes…after that it gets muddy on who should be saved first. Do you save the 95 year old lady before the young male doctor? Or do you save the male doc before the old lady? I don’t think there is a clear cut answer for anyone of adult status.

How much time do we have and how many lifeboats?

I think we take off as many people as possible.

If we have everyone assembled and are starting to evacuate, take those off, such as young children and their parents. Then take off the infirmed and elderly, finally take off those who can assist themselves. You need to also make sure that there are people in the infirmed and elderly lifeboats that can help.

While that rule was true at first, I don’t think it’s necessarily true now.

It sounds unfair in some ways but children cannot look after themselves and it is usually the women who look after children. That is probably why it was always thought to be the best way.

Children yes, but women are equals right? that means no more, no less than men but children have their whole life head so they should definitely be the first priority

I guess "equality" its just BS then.

don’t get me wrong. women and children always first.

Generally, the weakest should be saved first…however, those people are to be classified….the stronger have a better chance to fight whatever adversity will be faced.

Yes. It’s polite and right. Some men should be too as that’s fairer and i’m in no way saying women are weaker but it’s the polite thing to do

I believe whoever is closest to the lifeboats should be saved first. If you have to sort out the women and children from the men, you’re wasting valuable time which will result in more people dying. People dying is not exactly the objective of evacuating a sinking ship.

    From a women’s point of view-of course.

Now if I were male I’d be singing a different tune.
