Can You Survive Falling Out of an Aeroplane Into the Sea?
If my aeroplane breaks up over sea and I manage to get out without being hurt, can I survive both the cold and lack of air (I guess there is an upper limit to how high I can be) and if I get into a diving position could I survive hitting the sea at high speed. If yes, it woud look pretty cool. free fall diving from 3000 meters into the sea
one answer said you would break up at 3000 meters because of the cold. This isn’t true. I’ve been on a mountain in Peru that was 4755 meters high, and am still alive and well.
ya you would die. if you managed to get out of the plane then the speed that you hit the water wouldnt matter if you were ina perfect position. in mythbusters someone took the inflateable boat thing and used it as a parachute in to the ocean to see of it would work. even though it slowed the dummy down, he STILL would have died
Hm, dunno. But I don’t think so.
no
Have you ever fallen into cold water from a canoe? The water is so cold that it freezes your diaphram muscles and you cannot take a breath. You can die in a minute. And at 3000 meters(about 10000 feet), the air will be VERY cold also.
At 3000 meters the air pressure is much less than on the ground. This means that the DISSOLVED gases in your body, (lungs, blood, every cell) want to escape easily. They will "boil" and leave each cell very quickly, rupturing the cell walls if necessary.
Goodbye Charlie.
Now… if you are falling and unconscious from the lack of breath and ruptured eyeballs and lungs… how are you going to make that perfect OLYMPIC jacknife entry into the COLD NORTH ATLANTIC OCEAN..? Can you say, "Splaaatttt" ?
. Leonardo diCaprio could stand it for a 10 minute conversation…. but not me.
Ahhh but perhaps I am thinking of the effects of 7000 meters?
I TOO HAVE BEEN TO PERU, twice. And after several days acclamating to altitude, and dressed warmly, we calmly hiked at high altitudes. Also Mexico, Pico de Orizaba, 4000+ meters, dressed warmly. Not "break up" but your diaphram stops moving. Try it sometime, go to 4000 meters in a shirt and tie.
If God said your time isn`t come..you`re lucky..
I’m thinking you’d die from the impact. You’d need to check with a physicist but freefall terminal velocity might really be terminal, it’s probably like hitting a brick wall.
You would be dead as dirt when you hit the water. At that height you would be traveling at over 100Mph when you hit the water. Over 1,000 people have jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge. Maybe 3 or 4 of them lived the fall. And that’s only about a 200′ fall.
