Airplane Wreck Diving – Junkers Ju 52

Some 40 km out of the town of Narvik in Norway there is a lake which the Nazis used as a landing strip in the wintertime. One of their planes, a Junnkers Ju 52, now lies in the bottom of the lake. The most fun way to reach the wreck is by jumping into a crystal clear river leading to the lake, and drifting down.

    It’s very sad to see airplane wrecks, but this must have been a great adventure for you.

    Very nice video! Thumbs up!
    I´m surprised, that there is still a plane in the lake.
    Didn´t they pulled out allready three Ju 52`s?
    Or was this a different lake?

    @megatwingo I think they indeed pulled up a couple of the planes, don’t know why this one was left in there. Maybe because it was half buried in the sand and mostly stripped of anything useful.

    @MrPrometheus9 Water temperature was around +5C. Not that bad when using a proper dry suit and thermal wear.

    @Vornaskotti
    That may be a reason to leave the plane there, yes.
